The visual cues that name a car
- Badges and lettering: the obvious start, when present, including trunk-lid model scripts
- Grille: brands keep signature grilles for decades (BMW kidneys, Audi single frame, Jeep slots)
- Headlights and taillights: light signatures are model-specific and changed at each facelift, which also dates the car
- Proportions: cab-forward vs long hood, wheelbase, roofline; the silhouette narrows the era and class fast
- Wheels and exhaust: factory wheel designs are catalogued per model year
How AI identification works
